now just this week the Minister of SPALK Sport announced that Nicki Minaj was coming to T&T to launch some LOCAL thingy… i was kinda taken aback as to why we juss eh use Maximus and 3Canal.. Gyazette or sumbody who actually here instead but that is beside the point now.. coz BARBIE say she eh contracted to perform in Trinidad fuh nuttin next month…
so right now Anil Roberts muss be balling WHAAAAAAAT! like 10 tarzan… oh and even if he has egg on his face i blame BRAXTON

Meanwhile, chief executive officer of Hypro Ltd and D Project Records, Darryl Braxton—the man responsible for bringing the artiste to Trinidad—said Minaj was an obvious choice, given her strong Trinidadian roots. He said Minaj would perform for “about 35-45 minutes.” However, Braxton said, the cost to bring the “Your Love” singer was still “being worked out.” He also shied away from divulging ticket prices for the upcoming event but promised that all would be revealed soon. “I have high hopes that the show would be a success. I started a buzz. Even before we announced it my phone has been ringing off the hook. I’m confident it will be successful,” he added.

well i really wasnt gonna chime in on d whole @bpartofit B3 BEYONCE concert mess… well coz i didnt go… so the only opinion i cudda offer up was that i hoped T&T through TSTT was gettin value for their money.. read reviews and there are those for and against… watching some clips on YouTube that came up in my ever so often Trinidad search.. i think that ppl who went to see a performace got just that.. those who went to hear her sing.. well allyuh get robbed.. those who went fuh doubles well.. yuh cudda get it for alot less elsewhere…

now memba i basing these comments.. my opinion.. on what i seeing pon YouTube.. what TSTT say in d Papers… and my expectation of what a concert by Grammy winning artists should be.. should i also mention the I AM Las Vegas Concert BluRay/DVD has been available since the announcement that B was coming to T&T…

B3 staging area from a distance

B3 staging area from a distance

first off… when i saw the venue being boarded up i say WHOA what a spread.. then came the Teardown and I saw things that I never b4 witnessed in T&T for a concert.. there were proper facilities for changing room and all dat kinda ting.. yuh know dem converted containers dat made into office an ting yeah dem ting dey… i real sorry i eh get pics of that… not the usual 10×10 tent and yuh still in d grass dat HD and dem accustomed to… naah is level Aircondition ting… so TSTT and LAY… allyuh take allyuh praise for treating B good… as if allyuh had a choice…

now onto what i see.. no i not gonna talk about how pricey.. the same one who wasnt for said concert… waded into the promoters and the organization of concert… i basing it off d videos that all over d innernetz.. from dem in GEN-POP who B say she see… check the first vid i have dey bout 3:45 in… to all d odder who couldnt see Machel… coz the screens were off and then too low… i dunno if da was B own too.. coz the camera work didnt look like what we offer in T&T… moving on… I personally find that B eh sing enuff… from d 25 minutes that i see.. she real let dem tracks pla.. i doh wah hear no bloody excuse dat she tired… when Gentleman come and make meh go in d ZEN.. coz he iz one a meh fav artist… d man sing all ah he choon… he eh put d microphone and say allyuh sing.. and guess what he was on a tour too…

and now TSTT saying that they lorse money… OGO… like they expected to make a profit on shelling out over TT$30MILLION… JOKERS.. sorry not jokers.. them is professionals.. who hire two sportsmen to plan a FETE.. and i think that is where the problem is.. it wasnt a FETE.. it was supposed to be a WORLD CLASS CONCERT… doubles.. wah you feel it is.. ah All Inclusive.. i wah some smoked salmon wrap around some kinda smelly cheese dat does mek me feel to vomit… bring on some sushi and all dem kinda bougie ting.. is frickin BEYONCE.. not some bogus LOCAL entertainer… who never make a Billboard chart

all kicks aside.. TSTT has been wasting money all the years b4 by hosting the FREE4ALL in Woodford Square.. and with this now completely divested company more wastage is gonna be happening… its landline services which are TSTT branded.. bmobile cellular… blink internet DSL and do they still have dialup? also promised to launch WiMax by end of January.. wait we nearly in March and no sight of it as yet… blink entertainment that is cable like TV.. if yuh doh have the internet box yuh gots to get it to be entertained.. and they have a security thingy called VIGILANCE… they shudda install that by BC fuh free considering they endorse him and give him contract to manage events… the same vigilance that does only call d police.. nuttin else.. not like they have private security coming by yuh house in 3 minutes… end rant…

so i get some tings out meh head.. i really trying to post some things to get dem damn posts with the autoplaying vids off d front page too eh… i eh forget allyuh.. just having fun in another forum… nobehaviourshow.com

Dem Gone… So Far Away

10 May, 2009 12 comments

i still want more from the Far East Band, Gentleman and Jahcoustix… da website launch was the best I have ever attended… it was nice being able to have throngs of other Gentleman fans singing every word of his songs…

Jahcoustix started off the proceedings and was a nice warmup ’cause da acoustic set banging… the set sounded real good from where I was standing… right up in front… too bad the lil vids i try to take with the CyberShot eh do any justice to the performance… Jahcoustix, couldn’t remember the set list and joked about it… cause is only six songs… the man was oozing positivity… thats what draws me to the music that they do… you can feel the emotion in their rendition…

it was quickly onto the Far East Band who play a lil intro before Gentleman stepped out and laced Superior… the crowd was singing over him and he even placed the microphone for the fans to show their vocal prowess… I really cyar say nutting but the man along with the band needs to be brought back for a full length concert… most of the tracks he sang were off the Journey to Jah album… which happens to be my favorite… d man get two call back and had some stalker looking girls in the crowd real eyeing him down… or should I say up… but the best part was when he made his way into the crowd and joined the fans…

the lil americas tour finish and its back to germany… checkout Gentleman – Another Intensity on blogspot for more info… and Wayne Bowman for the Trinidad Express review…

oh yeah I still eh visit/see the new Mystic Hemp website cause I didn’t see the owner come on stage to launch it…

SumFest will go on

15 May, 2008 Leave a comment

Despite Red Stripe not being on board as title sponsors this year, Reggae Sumfest is still on course as it has already signed several big acts to its line-up for the event that will take place in Montego Bay from July 13-19.

Some of the artistes include Beenie Man, Richie Spice, Anthony B, Vybz Kartel, Wayne Marshall, Etana, Tarrus Riley, Demarco and Mavado. Robert Russell, chairman of Summerfest Productions , says the production team is in negotiations with several other local and international acts.

“We hope to offer the usual top-class entertainment package with all the best entertainers locally and some special overseas acts,” said Russell.

“We will still ensure the same level of state-of-the-art lighting, sound and stage production that have characterised Sumfest.”

While the Red Stripe brand has pulled out as title sponsors for the event, it is still the liquor sponsor. He says there are two major companies vying for title sponsorship but the discussions have not been concluded. He says discussions might not be completed in time for this year as the event will take place in two months but commitments have been made for years to come.

In addition, Digicel, Ocean Spray and Air Jamaica, the Jamaica Tourist Board and VP Records have once again signed on as major sponsors of the event. Supreme Ventures has signed as a Silver sponsor, Red Bull a Gold sponsor, and Jamrock Magazine is a Platinum sponsor.

Russell was also keen to point out that sponsors play a big role but the production team, especially the directors, helps to make the festival ‘the greatest reggae show on earth’.

Reggae Sumfest and Summerfest Productions won Concert of the Year and Promoter of the Year awards at the 27th Annual International Reggae and World Music Awards on May 4. Russell says the production team is proud of the achievements.

“I am very proud that we have received international recognition for a show that has been running since 1993. I want to thank the directors, artistes, musicians and security forces that put a lot of effort into putting on the show. Everybody worked hard to ensure that the festival is a success,” he said.

Russell promises that the event will be a good one. It has been afforded the privilege of going beyond 2 a.m. because it has been designated as an national festival. This status, he says, might be the same for other events like Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival and Jamaica Carnival.

“We have been designated as an national festival. That consideration is because of the amount of foreign visitors we attract. That is about 5,000 visitors and US$5 million in revenue. So we have been afforded the privilege of going later than 2 a.m. We will close the festival at the normal times,” he said.

Not Many ‘Came Around’

10 June, 2007 Leave a comment

oh gawd d Collie Buddz show (casue nobody in dey right mind could believe he could have a concert yet) had less dan 200 ppl. Yes I say it…

LESS THAN 200

and I counting the staff who work at STING Night Club in that total.

Ky-Enie was the first to perform starting with “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley… the performance was aight seeing that not many had even heard of him before. I still don’t understand why he did not sing his tune on the “Stock Track” riddim… at least he wudda get forward cause people know the riddim. He gave us a little acoustic treatment as he sang ‘RAIN’ one of his songs from the SHOTTAS Soundtrack… he looks a little like Chrisinti but the voice aint as sweet.

King David followed and got the small crowd totally involved. Belted out hit after hit and got an encore. LIFE is such a powerful tune and he had all singing.

There was a brief break between performances and then came the headline act.

Collie Buddz came on and told us immediately that when he landed he was feeling under-the-weather, but a CARIB, a ROTI and the SEXY TRINI Girls had him feeling better. Coming to sing to that small and naive of an audience would do well for any young performer. Especially after admitting that he cannot dance… anybody say a next Sean Paul… da remains left to be seen cause Collie have some tune with lyrics.. i eh know if is he writing them but they definitely have some hits in there.

Of all the songs he sang is only one I didn’t already have but I was kinda upset as he didn’t offer up “Give Me Da Love” and “Blind To You” two of his more recent singles. I went to hear dem tune… rootical riddim… at least I hear the “No Borders” riddim…

I need opinion on the following topic though… WHY do artists need to sing about MARIJUANA so much? Yes d man name is Collie and d tune is about HERB but oh gosh.. is like every tune have to do with weed… smoking, selling, growing, promoting… Ky-Enie was the main culprit here and King David didn’t even approach the topic.

One last ting… da bwoy COLLIE is one MWAGA BWOY.. i tort he had a lil muscle on him but is either he was/is SICK with something or… he is a lil boney white bwoy from the Southern USofA… 😉

HD in the MSG Theatre

24 February, 2007 Leave a comment

I wanted to blog on this topic ever since I saw a post by SaucyTrini on hers. I decided to do it now, after I read a post on YouTube in reference to the Machel Montano HD Jumbie music video I upped. I don’t know why people continue to pull the wool over their own eyes. I’ve had calls from people in New York who are amused when they hear that Machel is playing The Garden…

I am glad that Machel is able to hosts shows at reputable establishments but people please don’t shortchange yourself… it isn’t at Madison Square Garden.

Madison Square Garden, The World’s Most Famous Arena, is located in Manhattan on Seventh Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets. Tickets to events at Madison Square Garden are available at the Garden Box Office, and Ticketmaster online, phones and outlets.

Also located in the heart of Manhattan on Seventh Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets, is The Theater at Madison Square Garden. It has been the venue for annual family shows and theatricals, the NFL and NBA Drafts, CBS Television’s Fall Premiere, Con Edison’s Shareholder Meetings, Product Launches for Infinity and Intel, Oxford Health Plans Award Ceremony, Corporate Employee Meetings, college graduations, and religious conferences.

Youth Fest & the Bunji Garlin Concert in the west

9 January, 2007 Leave a comment

Youth Fest and the Bunji Garlin Concert are scheduled to be held in the western end of Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain, says promoter Randy Glasgow. In fact, Youth Fest, which is scheduled for January 27th may be the first event to test the new site originally earmarked to host only the Panorama 2007 semi-finals.

However, Pan Trinbago president Patrick Arnold said yesterday the use of the venue for these events depended on the approval of the National Carnival Commission (NCC) board. Meanwhile, sources say the NCC clubhouse is scheduled to be demolished by the end of this week, given the Urban Development Corporation of T&T’s selection of a contractor for the project.

If the green light is given for the events, the fears of panmen that a private promoter would take advantage” of the relocation of the finals and host a “big concert” in PoS will virtually be realised. The premiere of the Bunji Garlin Concert is scheduled on February 17th, Carnival Saturday—the same day as Panorama finals. In a phone interview yesterday, Glasgow denied that the staging of the former International Soca Monarch concert would adversely affect the attendance at Panorama.
