Destra Bacchanal

Destra in Camouflage

I just using the pic to make a point…

She wearing CAMOUFLAGE… aint that illegal in Trinidad & Tobago… so what message is being sent here… its ok to break the law!

Surely both she and the Music Video Director, Lisa Wickham, are aware of this… they are TrinBagonians… don’t they see value in spreading the right message… LAWLESSNESS again… for the sake of entertainment?

“make a bacchanal in d road…”

on a side note… I saw the video pon SYNERGY as well… but its not on Destra’s MySpace/Official Website/FaceBook Fan Page nothing nada… not even on SynergyTV website… just mentioning it for the marketing gurus… will not mention the simulated sex acts…

I hope it would be somewhere by the morning… even if is by a ‘pirate’ who put it on YouTube

bandi, sex and lawlessness sells. That is kinda unfortunate though.

  2. 16 February, 2009 at 23:26

so had to pirate it myself even tho she officially launched it on the 16th…

Well firstly i would like to point out that this shot that you are choosing to comment on before getting your facts was not in the actual video so in other words ur an ass keep yuh dam mout shut before getting all your facts. Secondly yes that clothing maybe llegal in Trini but not the rest of the world who says that the vid will run only in trinidad so choosing to hut yuh head on camouflage clothing study bout the people gettin killed everyday steups and how to fix dat and as for the Simulated sex then you better ban the whole of friggin Carnival if you call that simulated sex and 90% of the videos on the air today. So shut the fock up jed if you have no facts to back up you mouth and go back under that friggin rock yuh was under bless!!!

    • 23 February, 2009 at 21:09

thanks for validating the FACT… LAWlessness continues for the sake of… oh and the shorts are in the video…

the law may be outdated but it is a law…
if we continue to be lawless then that bodes well for our society?

      thanks for the comment still…

That nonsense of a law is not a law in many places other than sweet old TnT. It’s a very outdated law, I mean – how many soldiers will you see in camouflage pum pum shorts??
When the video is aired in Japan, England, the US, France, and the rest of the world will they care that Destra is wearing camouflage??
The rest of the world will recognise the quality of the video and the talent of the performer, not the damn half yard of camouflage material.
Think before you make nonsense comments like that in public, it shows bit of narrowmindedness!

    • 23 February, 2009 at 21:14

the LAW is the LAW… and if ‘Responsible’ artiste/directors continue to flout it well… then I’ll stay narrow-minded… cause at the end of the day if everyone chooses to follow only the laws that pleases them then What would be the future…

I mentioned nothing about the quality of the video and international appeal because that wasnt what the post is about…

Im disappointed that Hott Chick and Sterix would so callously crucify the bandwagonist on his own blog. He is expressing his own view of the situation and ripping him to shred is not contributing to any positive debate. You are lucky he is a enough of a fair minded guy to even leave your comments there.

To me the law prohibiting camo clothing is stupid but I agree with Bandwagonist. You’re a trini in a trini video about trini carnival, why do something against the law in Trinidad?

The Bandwagonist made an observation and it wasnt a personal attack against Destra (I love de girl) or anyone else. Cussing and atacking people in that manner on their own blogs ..for absolute stupidness… is not at all civilised behaviour. Leave that for the animals.

As for the Law part you should take that up with the Guardian or whoever gave you this pic because since this pants was breaking the law they had a right to blur the pants or not use it but compared to the vid where you can’t make out that this is a camouflage pants because of the creative cuts and motion blur to minimise clarity of the pants seen in the pic. And this is my point exactly you chose to not comment on the quality of the video and the international appeal because you did not even comment on the positive sides of the vid and that the video is actually a good reflection of the identity of our culture this is only one point but there are many others that you can touch on so in my opinion it is very easy for someone to stand behind an Alias and make comments on a real person out there who is actually making an attempt to help raise the bar in the industry today along with a few others.

when I first wrote the post all there was was a pic… and I believe the pic came from E-Zone aka Lisa Wickham… it was on FaceBook… the vid wasnt to be seen anywhere… thats what the lines were in the post for… sry if i didnt use the words update and blog about the quality of the vid… but If i didnt like the PRODUCTION Quality the vid wouldn’t have been posted here…

this alias is known to people I dont keep it a secret… but then again I posting as sterix…

As for you coffee dude whatever!!! you could agree with whoever you want cuz i really don’t care but it is easy for you and whoever to sit back and critisise people’s work publicly and not for other people to post their views publicly then you are all one sided in you arguments as for animals you show me an animal that could curse and i will definetly leave it for them. Bless.

I mean you are using an Alias to make your posts and you publicly calling people’s names and frankly i don’t agree with it but if that’s your flick and any of your other imaginary friends then that’s your flick. Now you and anyone out there who think they have the right to accuse make judgments on other people then check yourself because it’s for this exact reason why the whole world is in the state it is right now everyone is making accusations on each other. As for the picture i don’t have any proof that you got it from facebook the only clear fact i am going on here is that the picture labeled above is via guardian.co.tt so as i said in my above post the guardian had a right to blur the shot because that is the clearest you saw the pants since you are so passionate about this topic. Bless.

    • 23 February, 2009 at 22:41

the textual info was gathered from a message on FaceBook sent by someone with the initials SN and was also printed in the Guardian Newspaper… http://guardian.co.tt/features/entertainment/2009/02/16/destra-shoots-bacchanal-video

I not calling names that wasn’t in the paper… yes I grabbed the pic from the Guardian because the E-Zone pic (that has been deleted from FaceBook) had a watermark/logo partly blocking Destra… i gave the photo credit to the paper cause thats where the link originated… and yes they should have known better when posting/printing said image…

finally if you were following this blog you would have known my writing style and that I intended this BACCHANAL… its called double entendre… something that is done quite commonly in Calypso and sometimes SOCA… even Chutney.. Jep Sting… I was also poking at the SOCA Industry that seeks recognition when they don’t properly market themselves… and Destra is finally doing that… even if Synergy scooped/stole some of the glory…

thanks for jumping on this bandwagon…

After looking at the video again just to confirm my views did you ever wonder if maybe the directors kept the shots above the waist of the artiste throughout the whole video was intentional ? Think about it or watch it again if you had not seen that pic on guardian then you would have never known that she (destra) was wearing camouflage pants. So again accusing the director of being lawless frankly takes credibility away from you and your blog since your use of words were without proper research with or without the video posted. And only appear to me as a small time hater since in a previous blog where you posted “Lisa Wickham has a history of not being original” i chose not to dignify such an inaccuracy by commenting at the time. And that’s it that was the quickest ride cuz i am off this bandwagon again. See ya!
