in all honesty i dont see it being that different to any other video out there… concept nor production. the atmosphere had all the vibes. just didn’t translate for me. flat harsh images. wrong frame rate at times… bah i eh going into it… go watch blaxx leh go instead…

It’s another Public Holiday here in sweet T&T. Corpus Christi. I think you supposed to plant something today, so I planting ideas. Ideas on the future of technology and how we will be using it/them.
I recently invested in an iOS device (better late than never) and couldnt be more pleased. I immediately saw it’s promise and well the lil one is semi impressed. Attention spam of like 5 minutes is sometimes spread to 10 when counting or reading along. The interface is as simple as it is sold as. Yes a two year old can do the simplest of tasks. And the plethora of FREE apps can certainly keep one busy enough. I’ve installed most of the apps I use on my desktop machine with ease and many sync data without problem.
Now as with any computing device you can only get out of it what you put in. So it’s up to you to decide it’s use. The need for an mp3 player currently doesn’t exist for me as my older iPodPhoto still works, even if it can’t keep a battery charge for more than two days to properly boot. as portable storage. I simply didn’t need it. My line of employment doesn’t require me to walk around with any files, always have a 4 gb thumb drive for those presenters who forget theirs tho. That being said I can now easily walk around with my show reel and well show it off wherever necessary. Don’t have to boot up a laptop/netbook or walk around with one of those DVD players. Not that I meet many people who wanna see my work anyway.
So off the lil indulgence on one of the OSes of the future and onto the newer incarnations of software delivery and improvements
Apple dropped FCPX this week and well people rushed out to buy it. Those with capable machines I should add. Sadly mine isn’t so I am not among the crop of early adopters and I don’t see it in the near future either, especially after some of the reviews. The app has become top seller/grosser in a few days with many a reviewer expressing the want of a refund. It is said to be a bloated PROer version of iMovie. Stripping features that users had not only grown accustomed to but what made having FCP7 sensible. Multiiclip is one that I’ve used and fully appreciated. Sometimes it doesnt pay to be an early adopter. Does it ever? They are also poised to drop their new OS in the same manner. wish them luck.
Next up is some amazing technology from/called lytro. The camera captures all the info it can about the field of light before it. Then you can adjust to your hearts delight. Create tilt shift, focus in the fore/background. Amazing. All for a comparable price to regular prosumer cams too?
And lastly is my latest guilty pleasure. turntable.fm a DJ service of sorts where you DJ for crowds and gain points die your plays. It could turn out to be the place where artists play their stuff promo or just somewhere to discover new music. Not that those places don’t already exist. Currently in beta and by invite only. Not entirely sure how the heck I was able to infiltrate it! to me it has potential but being the critic I am I have issue with playlist creation and replays. If I wanted to listen to radio I would. Then again I don’t think the users are really sure what is the direction.
So enjoy the Corpus Christi. Try to find out who put out a hit on Mr. Crime Watch coz you could get $500k from him. Better than CrimeSroppers. And be vigilant.

Criminals at Large
Got up this morning to a notification from Facebook that someone posted a note on the NObehaviourSHOW page. When I read it I was confused. It was a crime story about an incident at MovieTowne. Read the comments below it and well, I said to myself don’t comment. Them people not thinking logically they only on feelings. Feelings that I might have had myself if I knew the people involved. Maybe I do?
My concern tho is the call for a boycott. MovieTowne does not exist in a vacuum. It is part of Trinidad & Tobago. 3 branches nationwide. Yes even in Tobago. Why boycott? Why not talk to the owner first, along with the police to see what can be done. It isn’t the first time I have heard of a gun toting Negro in the vicinity (their words). Last time a youth lost his life for a gold chain. It happened in the Eco Park which is like 10 meters away. the same kind of robberies occur daily on the streets and have happened at other shopping/cineplex areas as well. I am not trying to deny people their right to feel anguish but seriously. This ain’t a new thing. Is it that it now reach close to your home?
I have been involved or have had family robbed as well. All I could do is offer support to them and go vigilante to find he criminals. Crime is a serious blot on our country and the perpetrators are those who seemingly don’t have and don’t care. Boycott cannot be an answer else all the malls will soon be empty. We as a people need to properly partner with the protective/social services. That is do our part. Blah blah blah on their ineffectiveness and what ever else. That _ish ain’t helping anyone. Allyuh called to boycott Trincity Mall. Folks still went. Ian Alleyne said boycott Price Plaza… MovieTowne opened right across the road and his former employer has a store there. I Agree with your calls for increased security but unless you have proof that Chin is KingPin yuh cyar blame him.

and what going on with all the Music Videos that artistes keep promising… KES does make some, HD try a ting a few years ago… i still waiting on Marlon Asher Ganja Farmer… he went Africa to shoot it… and doh come tell me bout expense… man like Trevor Sayers releasing thing normel normel… allyuh eh have a twenny thous to make a decent vid… cmon… what allyuh performing for whole year… tuh build house wit no foundation… ask Rikki Jai how d Sumintra video help him to become a household name… we only hear SonnyMan and never saw him… and Adesh make a lil vid for Rajin… i eh asking for a 30 min Kanye West flim… a lil performance piece… shoot something in HighDef and slap it together… Synergy showing vids that years old coz it eh have nuttin new… and they could look to sell the video too… wonder how many artistes actually seek to get their footage from promoters who record their shows…
i looking at this from the perspective as a consumer who wants to see himself on the screen… film class and all… even if we havent covered the topic… coz its all part of marketing and branding… geez i doh like the video for Farmer Nappy’s Flirt but it made me actually listen to the song… and i like the song… buhwahmoder have a video… moving on… well kinda…
onto d classes thing… we really eh have any excuse to be out of work/uneducated nah… i see UWI Open Campus running full page ads for a plethora of courses… yes is money hadda pass buh i studyin to go study some Electrical… so i could do some lil extra wukk… wanna do the lil Air Condition thing too but next cycle… if i sign up i go be busy till July but then i could make back that TT$800/20 week investment in one or two weeks wukkin… yuh see i could try tuh get a wukk on a film set as an electrician… or could just be a handier operator who has extended knowledge… more marketable… i also read somewhere that it better to be actively learning as you get older too… so d brain eh go turn tuh mush and yuh get ‘old timers’ (read Alzheimer’s) … not that i old buh its been some years since i study anything and it have younger than me who be taxing d brain soon enuff…
T&T Carnival seems to heighten everyones awareness about the flaws within our entertainment industry… when i think about how i was introduced to JointPop and other non rapSOCAlypso entertainers was via the tele… some music video shot among the pine trees up at Mount St. Benedict, or San Fernando Hill, utilizing Naparima Bowl’s mossy steps or some random street corner… ramble ramble ramble…
