Not One Fork

i was just minding my bizness while it was raining and i see this tweet that made me click… i see something about Peepin Tom and Public Floggin… tort a man get ketch… not knowing that is somebody alter ego

d Peepin Tom ah write a thing talking bout ‘poor’ people as hoarders of clutter and well fuh Christmas “the poor try to imitate this wellbeing through illusion

yes it have plenty ppl who say they poor yet the always blinging the latest style and fashion… maybe they go hungry and sacrifice that for their look…

No matter how small the home there must, for example, be a three-piece suite, a wall divider, a cabinet for storing wares and cutlery – some of which will hardly ever be used in the owner’s lifetime – a sewing machine, the symbol of independence, and a dining table. For a family occupying a small space, these things take some skill to fit in the limited space available.

well i living in a space with 5 rooms… if you wanna call it that… a living area, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a toilet/bath… and i have the suit… by meh mudder… i have a drawer with some spoon and fork… it have needle and thread… but no dining table… it eh have d space fi it…

Today, most poor homes have television sets, DVD players, laptops and all the latest gadgetry. So being poor is now just a class symbol; it is no longer about not having. Hire purchase and remittances have conspired to ensure that the poor have everything in their homes that the rich can have, except that the rich have, in accounting terms, more fixed and movable assets.

now i know that people do buy stuff on HIGHER Hire Purchase… buh is not only poor people… so juss cause i eh have as much money as you it means that i shouldnt clean up meh place… you want my place to look like a dump… is one thing to be content with my posessions but is another thing to assume that i doh like nice thing too…

i still have a DVD player dat is like eight tuh ten years old… and tanks tuh d giffs ah cash i have fridge and stove…

i sorry i cyar finish writing this… i go still post it… i jess get images of a govahment dat like to put plaster over sore… maybe dat is what d writer was alluding to and not me in my slowly getting poorer state… plus i haffi go renew meh permit fi drive… not that the car wuking anyway… and i may have the rent money fuh December but if anybody have things they need doing i looking fuh January money from now… feel free to contact me… bandwagonist at bandwagonist dot com

Gypsy – Sinking Ship

3 December, 2009 bandi Leave a comment

now my belief is that the ship has run aground and thereby being propped up to avoid the inevitable… there is no dry dock in sight and the scrap salvagers are already lining up and taking what they could get

The Sinking Ship… Gypsy

This is an SOS from the Trinidad
Location seven miles off the coast on Venezuela
SOS! SOS! Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!
Help! Help!

The Trinidad a luxury liner
Sailing the Caribbean Sea
With an old captain named Eric Williams
For years sailed smooth and free
But sadly, Eric Williams passed away
The ship hit rough water that day
Someone turned the bridge over
To a captain named Chambers
Meh blood crawl, thinks start to fall
Hold meh head when a sailor bawl

Chorus
Captain this ship is sinking
Captain these seas are rough, oh yes
We gas tank almost empty
No electricity, we oil pressure reading low
Shall we abandon ship
Or shall we stay on it and perish slow
We doh know, we doh know
Captain you tell we what to do

Vs 2
The Trinidad, oh she was a beauty
With wealth that few surpass
And in her day she sailed majestically
There were few in her class
Faithfully she fulfilled her sailors need
Some were overpowered by greed
And so they pilfered slow
Some took by bulk and go
Now she look dull, sheís at a lull
She could barely sit on her hull

Chorus
Captain this ship is sinking
Captain these seas are rough, oh yes
We gas tank almost empty
No electricity, we oil pressure reading low
Shall we abandon ship
Or shall we stay on it and perish slow
We doh know, we doh know
Captain you tell we what to do

Vs 3
The Trinidad, in her day of sailing
She was a friend to one and all
She never once ever hesitated
To answer all SOS calls
And yes, well she always did her best
To help out those in distress
Now itís so sad to see
Sheís in difficulties
Though she help jeer
Some ah dem cheer
And sarcastically declare

Chorus
Captain this ship is sinking
Captain these seas are rough
We gas tank almost empty
No electricity, we oil pressure reading low
Shall we abandon ship
Or shall we sit on it and perish slow
We doh know, we doh know
Captain you tell we what to do
If only there is something I could have done to restore the credibility of this beautiful vessel
Money is no problem

Vs 4
Now there is a lot of fingers pointing
Suspicion running strong
Whoís to be blamed for all her failures
Whoís to be blamed for doing her wrong
Now please remember Iím warning you
For thirty years, she had the same crew
Who hold the keys to her vault
So we know who ís at fault
Now it ís up to you, itís up to me
To make her worthy to go back to sea

Chorus
Captain this ship is sinking
Captain these seas are rough, oh yes
We gas tank almost empty
No electricity, we oil pressure reading low
Shall we abandon ship
Or shall we stay on it and perish slow
We doh know, we doh know
Captain you tell we what to do
We doh know, we doh know
Captain you tell we what to do
We doh know, we doh know
You tell we what to do
We doh know, we doh know
Captain you tell we what to do Put up a flag
Oh gosh we doh know
Can we turn to the World Bank for help

thanks to @rmsweston :D for tweeting this today…

Local Intelligence?

that title is such an oxymoron…

there are so many things that bother me with the following story…

Muslim denied entry to T’dad from Tobago
Joel Julien jjulien@trinidadexpress.com

Sunday, November 29th 2009

A LOCAL Muslim was denied entry into Trinidad from Tobago on Friday allegedly because of his radical beliefs on Islam, the Sunday Express learned yesterday.

so essentially ‘A Trinidadian‘ who was staying in Tobago… ppl from Tobago are also called Trinidadian… decided to come back to Trinidad for whatever reason and was denied entry… even though we are the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago… no international borders were being crossed… you doh need a Passport… even if you could get an appointment for a new one… so if i from Tunapuna and want to go San Fernando somebody could tell me ‘NAH’… ‘Hard Luck’… ‘You is a terrorist because You are Muslim‘…

it had to be because of ‘radical beliefs‘ that he was targeted right… but PM PM doesnt have ‘radical beliefs’… he eh drunk on the Bible… or is it just because the beliefs happened to be rooted in another religion…

Investigating officers found it ’strange’ that Abdullah decided to travel to Trinidad the same day that Sarkozy arrived here, the Sunday Express learned.

as i wrote on Thursday… Friday was Eid-ul-Adha… i tort we so culturally diverse and everybody know bout everybody else religion… dem fellas mus be skip school that day… or never went…

Abdullah, who had a ticket for the ferry’s sailing, was on his way to Port of Spain to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, a time when the sacrificing of domestic animals such as goats, sheep or cows usually takes place as remembrance of the sacrifice made by Prophet Abraham.

yuh see this CHOGM ting get some ppl kinda chupid… or he didnt have a ticket fuh he sheep and goat…

Apart from Abdullah being questioned, his home and business place in Tobago were also searched.

i wonder what they were looking for… a copy of the Quran to prove he was a terrorist Muslim…

Abdullah, sources claimed, has been of interest to both United States and United Kingdom intelligence agencies previously while specific plans to attack those countries’ interests here were being investigated.

so the US nd UK managing Local Law Enforcement now… i should watch who name i call in meh bloggin and tweeting now… they might come break down meh glass door… and take meh computer and then leak all meh sex tape dem… truth be told we have no Local Law Enforcement…

i hope Mr. Abdullah sues the state… there must be some kinda breach of his rights here… because if he was such a threat he should have been arrested and charged long before he attempted to board a boat… or maybe that’s why he was arrested… he wasnt showing enough National Pride to be boarding the T&T Spirit

i kinda peeved nah coz i got an email FWD this week and the sender admitted to FWDing said email not having verified the contents… contents that seek to spread untruths about ISLAM under the pretense of coming from an Islamic source… so this just set me off…

i still think that this was imporperly handled… i mean two ppl stormed a Presidential Dinner in the White House last week… and if they werent caucazoids they prob wouldnt have passed the front gate… yes that is US biz… but its plain old profiling

i wonder how many other criminals were on that Ferry…

Squingy – Loud & Clear

27 November, 2009 bandi Leave a comment

those followers of the Dancehall/SoundSystem Culture would understand this post…

a true LEGEND in one of his visits to Trinidad back in 2001…

Kevin ‘Squingy’ Bennett in Trinidad. Guinness Fully Loaded 2001.

Kevin ‘ SQUINGY ‘ Bennett From Bass Odyssey Sound System R.I.P.

At 6:40 am on Tuesday November 24, 2009, we were informed of his death in a hospital in Tampa, Florida. It is reported that his lungs collapsed which lead to the failure of his other organs.

At little over five years ago, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Although there is no cure he had been receiving adequate treatment in both Jamaica and the United States. At this time we extend gratitude to those who have helped us to support and maintain Squingy’s life until now as that in itself is a miracle from the Almighty.

Kevin was a proud, strong, loyal and dedicated member of our family who bravely fought this obstacle to the final second and lived his life to the fullest in light of the surrounding circumstances.

We appeal to the true Squingy friends and family, the loyal Bass Odyssey fans and supporters of the music that effort be made to preserve his important legacy and contribution. Let us bury the man as a legend. We maintain that we have always supported Squingy and the entire staff and in extension Alexandria community have stood by his side 100 per cent. Keith Walford and Kirky C are making the necessary arrangements to ship his body to Jamaica where he will receive an honourable burial.
We appeal to everyone to rise to the occasion and support us in honouring a legend for his lifetime and dedication to entertaining fans around the globe.

Thanks to those who have expressed their support and condolences, they are our strength in this time of grief.

Sincerely,
Bass Odyssey

CHOGM Holiday

Government orders schools, public offices closed Friday

tomorrow – Friday – is now an undeclared public holiday.

I shall be working.

Given the fact that most of the ministries are situated in the capital city – Finance, Planning, Housing, Works and Transport, Attorney General, Sports, Public Utilities, Energy, Trade, Public Administration – it is a holiday for the majority of public servants.

how long do we have to wait until Gov’t decentralizes its operations? OH wait that will never happen because they building all downtown Port-of-Spain for they own Ministries… fed up of paying RENT… yet still the lights are left on in the night while building is empty… doh even have furniture…

For many, particularly teachers, it is the third holiday for this week. Teachers took without approval, Monday and Tuesday as ’day of reflection’ in support of calls from the trade union movement to stay away from work. During the Fifth Summit of the Americas meeting in April, school was on Easter vacation. The Education Ministry’s decision to close all Government and Government-assisted schools, which has led to the decision of private schools to close as well, has left educators scrambling to reschedule end-of-term exams.

yes I… tuh ass with the chirren an dem… who already does be stress out with exams.. well i guess its on less day to worry if they go get stab… doh forget WE CARE…

The day-off is welcome news to Trinidadians who delight in holidays.

the effin truth… who say RIVERBEACHLONG WEEKENDTHANKSGIVING… for the holiday… nothing else…

tomorrow is also the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha
