SONY HVR-MRC1

SONY HVR-MRC1
I first tested with the File type set to Raw DV… easier for me as I also have access to FCS… no need to render the file to play with it in Real Time. I also set the iLink to Synchronous rather than Follow… it works well even without a tape in the camera… I was using a SONY HVR-V1U… Started with DV because most of the content in Trinidad & Tobago is still SD… Standard Definition… I subscribe to the school of thought that its better to shoot/record at higher resolution (HD) as one could always compress/squeeze it after without much loss… but the other way could be problematic… quality would suffer…
I decided to record some footage while I journeyed from St. Augustine to Couva and back. Test results made the iReport on Driving post back in March.
While researching I had read about the M2T file type and some people’s problems with using it… sorry to say I had no problems… the file was easily converted using MPEGStreamClip.
Haven’t tested since as there seems to be a shortage of 16GB CompactFlash Cards in Trinidad… some real bogus Computer Stores here… two 32GB Cards are on order and should hopefully arrive for testing during a Concert in the not to distant future…

I like…so you blank the MOW postition. Can I say that you would make one hell of an investigative reporter (undercover no-less) this is a nice piece of equipment to have — if only you could send in the footage and have the police issue tickets to them drivers for reckless driving…So wait ah wonder if we police cars have that high tech equipment on they dashboard?
I wonder if they have any technology on the dash… it can help us track their operations as well… it should start recording as soon as the vehicle engine is switched on.. we could see how many are buying parts in Bamboo or dropping off their kids/ off to school… and where they buy their food!
